Tuner is needed yeah, I would put ALL my money on vacuum leak..including upcoming tax money. Did they not tell you to do anything to the car after they cut off the EGR pipe? Just so you know i Have MAC Longtube Headers installed on mine and i kept my EGR because it did have the bung hole for it on there, idk about pacesetter. I am deleting my EGR eventually but certainly not cutting it off, just plugging up two holes and via computer.

no they didnt tell me anything but a friend of mine who is good on mustangs told me that the EGR will need to be reprogramed on the computer. I capped it cause it was easier but i will be deleting it after i reprogram the computer. I think ur right with the vaccum i will check it out.

My pacesetters didnt have the EGR hole only the 02 senesor and thats it.

I installed these..

The tuner can't disable the egr all it can do is remove the code it throws out

However ive heard you can put up your tune in the SCT forums and one of their tuners can edit your tune and remove the EGR

Yeah like I said the egr is probably the problem but his situation sounds exactly like mine did when my fuel filter crapped.

The symptoms are identical, but looking at it from a logical perspective i would not go towards fuel related considering the work that was done.

Reaper, I'm like 98% sure the tuner will turn off the EGR. By turn off i mean it will tell the computer that the EGR is their when its really not.

KP, i do see in the product description of your link up there it says W/O air Inj, or EGR. they look alot cleaner without that hole in the side pipe. I dont like it and makes working on that side of the engine a bitch. my main reason for deleting it.

I know what you meant man, however i cant remember were but i heard that the EGR can only be shut off with the handheld via actually editing the tune (i.e. a tuner needs to manually do it). I personally am not sure, however, because i still have my EGR (Damn Cali emission laws) so never had a reason to use my SCT to do that

If rear o2 sensors are gone, it wouldnt make the car run like that, ask me how i know , both my 02 sensors are gone and have been for a couple of years, turned off the rear 02 sensors via my handheld tuner and plan on turning off my EGR whenever i make the block-off plate.
