Engine Shuts off while driving

Help! Ok i am new to Modded and i am a noob with mustang but i want to learn.

Here is my problem I drive a V6 3.8 2000 and i recently went to a shop to install Long Tube Headers by Pacesetter. I installed them and had to cut off my EGR valve so i did. I had to do this in order for the LT to fit because they did not have EGR. So the shop disconnected it and capped off my EGR vavle.

I got my car back and had to install resignators ( silencers) because it was to loud and i didnt have the cash for super 40s. which I will be installing soon.

My problem is now when i come to a stop i shift out of gear and in Neutral the car's RPMs fall to 0 and the car seems to stall even though it is moving. As the RPMs fall if i accelerate they can rise before it hits 0 but it sounds messed up like its about to stall.

It sounds as if you are at .5 rpm and accelerate not to stall.

P.S

My Exhaust set up is only LT and resignators no cats nor mufflers.

My plan is to remove the resignators and have LTs with O/R H pipe and Super 40s

Please help if you need more info just ask and this is my first post.

Could be your fuel pump.

How is the egr capped off? is it actually secure? could be a bad vacuum leak.

Sometimes fuel pumps just crap out with age, that happened on my old carb setup, it would drive okay if it was revved but if it got low rpms, for instance at a stoplight, it would die. Your fuel pump should be right by the gas tank, its a simple fix. But check vacuums also. Throwing any codes?

He would have to be throwing a code if they cut off the EGR, without a tuner to turn it off. I would look in the relevant places first the EGR system, fuel pump does not seem logical to be dead if he is able to start, just has the problem while driving.

is it hard to start at all?usually if something goes wrong after you do something, it has something to do with what you just did, more than likely its soomething to do with your EGR.

mine was never hard to start up in the morning, but it would be hard to start after it died..(fuel pump issue for me). i would check out what they did with your EGR, then proceed to a fuel pump change if you cant find anything wrong, its a cheap part and a 5 minute fix.

beside today it would restart right up without a problem. Also it has no check engine light and i need a computer to see if any codes are coming up but i think the shop reset the light because they removed the EGR and no light came up.

lol how do you justify fuel pump? when the work was done on the exhaust system DIRECTLY cutting something off?

KP, You HAVE to disable your EGR. Its not a choice really. You WILL throw a code, and if this shop was shady like someones backyard then you probably have a huge leak on the system somewhere. Am i invisibile or something lol, why would you waste money on fuel filter? its like 4.00 bucks but still. think about it, your car starts right? you have pressure right? so its getting through.
