Smoke

when starting the car cold a shitload of smoke comes out of the exhaust and puts black marks on the ground..im thinking it might be the valve stem seals.what do you think.

port and polish the heads and intakes, cam, any thing you can think of. and btw, you have to take the heads off to change the valve stem seals.

Using the "rope in the cylinder" or compressed air methods, you can change valve stem seals without pulling the heads.

Yea you don't have to pull them, but depending on the mileage it could be a good time to change the head gaskets.

Do a cam, port the heads, upgrade valve train, all the fun stuff you normally just dream of...

how is the compression? need to check that before you do anything else.

may be easier to just get another motor.

compression is good. the car runs great. you wouldn't think it had that many miles by the way it runs.
