Performance chip

Trying to find out about performances chip for my 2000 v6 mustang 5speed that really work. Plus, I would like to know if there is cheaper stuff i can do to give it more hp? I have cold air and true dual already. I saw a pc online for 80 dollars and it said up to 60 hp not sure if it really works. Bama wanted almost 300 for a 20 hp chip. I'm not trying to put alot into this car in a yr i plan to sale it but trying to give it a little something something till i sale. thanks to all

Get a Bama SCT Handheld tuner

http://www.americanmuscle.com/x3-cus...er-9904v6.html

Do NOT buy any chip that advertises 60 HP or something (generally on ebay) , thats a load of bull. The Bama tunes that you get with the SCT are a night and day difference. Pricey but completely worth it for a near stock car

thanks reaper...i thought i heard that somewhere before.. Thats why im not sure what to do..would a cold air intake with a fan be better then a normal k&n ? Also reaper i see that u have x pipe..when i got flowmasters put on i asked the guy installing them if an x pipe would make it sound better he said no cause its a v6...he replaced my two cats with highflows and gutted the resinators.Does it make it sound deeper like v8? My setup now is very loud but my gt sounds alittle deeper.

No do not get one of those "electric superchargers/fans" things. Also completly useless as are any of those ebay chips. As for the x pipe question, no it wont. If you want a deeper "v8" sound get a divorced duals, h-pipe, or a prochamber.

If you want a noticeable diffrence for your six get a SCT handheld tuner like i posted earlier. One of the biggest differences ive felt on the car

What it does (if i remember correctly) is they trick your ECU into believing your running lean and add more fuel to compensate. However that has no benefits whatsoever (well except probably risking fouling up your plugs or something as well as some loss in gas mileage). I doubt it will screw up your ECU but personally why risk it right?

Are you talking about your gt or six?

Your six comes with a y pipe from stock. Running divorced duals means you cut off your y pipe right behind your cats amd run pipes straight to the mufflers and out back (No midpipe). Midpipes have no performance gain on our sixxes because we have an even firing engine (the gt has an odd firing thus why they benefit), however midpipes do effect how our exhaust tones are. If you want a v8 sound go Prochamber, H-pipe, or divorced duals (in that order) with Flowmaster 40s mufflers.

Here this should help you out
http://3.7mustang.com/wiki/Exhaust

As for how many hp i gained i have no idea, never been on a dyno. But it was noticeable enough to put a huge smile on my face. A tune from BAMA has single handedly given me the biggest gain (more so than any of my other mods put together)

Now you gota remember theres no way in hell your gona make power on our sixxes unless your willing to spend some coin. Our cars dont respond well to mods like the GTs do

1.) Don't buy it. 90% of these are complete rip-offs.

2.) This is what they are: they're basically a resistor in a box that you hook up to your IAT sensor. This resistor lowers the voltage that the ECM sees, so it thinks the air coming in is cooler than it actually is. This makes the ECM advance timing and throw more fuel in it than it should. Most of this is a waste, and can either cause your car to ping or waste fuel if too agressive. Even if it's perfectly done you won't see a noticeable gain.

Worse still, because your ECM is constantly monitoring the exhaust, if the resistor is too agressive it will cause it to go rich, the ECM will realize the IAT is out of calibration and it will throw a CEL.

So in short, bad idea.

Then your running divorced duals (take a look under your car if you have 2 pipes straight from your mufflers to your headers then you indeed have divorced duals).

And listen to WickedSnake, guy has a lot of knowledge

A cam is a great idea, although very pricey if you don't know how it install it yourself. Paint the wheels whichever way you like, they will look good either way (but if you paint them inner outline and center cap black, leave the pony silver).

Shouldn't be a problem, also look into plastidip as well, awesome stuff.
Also a cam would be a great upgrade but as McQueen said its not a simple job, however the benefits are worth it (not to mention the awesome exhaust tone your six will have, obviously this will be determined by the cam u get). Also a cam upgrade will allso require you to upgrade your heads (valve springs, retainers, etc.)
