Complete loss of control/response

Okay so weirdest/scariest thing happened to me today...

I was driving down a hill and put the gear in neutral and let the car coast downhill. Halfway down I suddenly lose all response, steering no longer works (steering wheel locks up), brakes don't fully function (I slammed on the brakess and the car ever so slowly slowed down (and damn I mean I slowly slowed down, so slow I thought I lost functionality on my brakes). Gas pedal didn't work, nor did changing gears have any effect at all. Radio and gauges however still worked fine as did switching on my emergency lights. I did notice my battery symbol came up (red). Now remember this happened going down hill...

Any idea what the hell happened?

Car was still on while this happened btw

Edit: forgot to mention, once I was finally able to stop I turned the car off and back on and everything worked fine again

Refer to the Movie "Christine."

Sounds like when you threw the car into neutral the engine itself stalled?

Yeah, sounds like the car stalled or belt slippage if you lost power steering. The red battery symbol means power is being drawn from your battery. Same thing will happen when you have serpentine belt slippage, the battery light turns on. By chance was it raining?

No man it was all clear, however the engine itself kept running (now I may be wrong there, as since I was in neutral the exhaust couldn't be heard over the sound of the road). Can that even happen with engine running?

You know what, i think you guys are right. since i was coasting downhill i must of stalled and not noticed do to the road noise (and lack of throttle). That explains all the symptoms i was having when this occurred.

Yup, a stall out. Probably nothing, just a guy not knowing how to put the clutch in to slow down (j/p).

If it happens again, clean IAC. But if it fired up and is running fine, probably nothing.

Haha yea must of, didn't even notice since I was just coasting (in neutral w/ no throttle) lol, kinda freaked at first. However thinking back on it now it was just that, a simple stall thanks guys
