Gears and what else?

Hi. I am looking at buying gears for my cars, but whenever I went to American Muscle to buy them, there were all these other options. My Mustang has 15,000 miles on it and I am planning on having the gears shop installed. Do I need to buy any of the extra packages listed on that page?

Thanks!

I would post the link, but I can't. The extra packages that are available are: Gear Install Kit, Traction-LOK Rebuild Kit w/ Carbon Discs, 2011 8.8in Rear Gear Pinion Bearing

Or you can visit the American Muscle website and enter this after the .com part: /ford-373-2011v6.html

chances are you have a 7.5 rear end (Thats the length of the rear end of ours cars and whats included in the description for stuff of this nature, things for 8.8 will not fit in ours)The description you posted above is for an 8.8 but typically you would neet:

Gear installed kit for 7.5
Traction lock for 7.5
Ring & pinion (gears) for 7.5 and a good mechanic to do it.
Tuner to tell your car your gears have changed so you arent going faster than you think. (or a new speedometer gear)

Welcome to Modded Mustangs!!!

Look Here Before Asking About Mods within this link you should read the portion about gears as well.

Keep in mind your in the 99-04 V6 mustang section so the things i post below our for that year/engine mustang, since you didnt post what you have I'm only speculating at this point.

Gears for our cars - http://www.americanmuscle.com/motive-373-9904v6.html
Traction Lock for our cars - http://www.americanmuscle.com/ford-28spline-75-lsd.html
Master install kit for our cars - http://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild1.html

Would be a good idea to have this as well because you will need to tell the cars computer whats going on

Then I think you already have an 8.8.

@ 15k miles Idk that Id get a rebuild kit if you've been taking decent care of the car. But thats up to you and whatever dealers reccomend you.
