Clean it, maybe paint areas where it rubbed off...it would be easier to keep it up after you have cleaned it without the engine in there.

then re swap . also, i would sand down your engine bay and shoot it with some undercoating to make sure everything is sealed up, and it wouldn't look to bad.

Clean and paint the engine bay silver. Paint the engine and trans black while they are out too. Looks pretty neat when you pop the hood and the drivetrain is black.

Silver or black? What would look better for engine bay?

Paint the bay silver to match your car since most of it is already silver. Paint the engine trans black so it looks clean and the power train is distinct from the engine bay.

I am gonna be doing this same things soon. I was planning on painting the engine bay black, along with cleaning every inch of the new engine going in. Possibly hitting some of the componets (A/C, Water Pump, ect) with some die-cast silver paint to make them look brand new.

Paint the engine black... never thought of that. What areas would you paint? I am guessing just the entire exterior?

Yeah that would be really cool with a black engine.

Black engines (and everything else) isn't so great.

If anything, I would highly advise NOT painting your block and lower section black. That will make finding a leak almost impossible. Cummins marine engines are actually painted all white just to facilitate finding leaks. I'm not saying do it all white, but a high visibility color is very helpful

^ +1 Paint engine bay same color as car. Thats what i want to do soon. I already blacked out my engine. I did a lot of powder coating only because i got a freind in the bussiness. But some good scrubbing and paint will work just fine.

Take your ac/power steering /alt bracket and go flat or satin black. Then do timing cover/water pump/lower manifold/valve covers gloss black. Its time consuming but the pay off is well worth the effort.

If you cant paint engine bay due to cost or time, at least scrub it down and hit it with a little compound/polish you will be suprised how well it will look.

I would'nt worry about finding oil leaks on a black engine its not a diesel LOL.
