ATF + Oil Change Via Disptick

So today I tried to change my ATF and motor oil using a transfer pump via the dipstick tube, here are my results and questions for you guys:

1) The ATF change went smoothly. I was able to get about 4 quarts out before the suction tube went dry. I added the pretty much the same amount I pulled out, started the car, and got it to warm up a bit before taking it for a spin. The shifting became a little bit stiffer but you can feel a bit of improvement. However, when I looked under the car I noticed that there is a bolt / screw that goes into the rear of the transmission (driver side) and it is leaking few drops. Who knows what that bolt is for? And what is a good compound to use to create a gasket in that area of the tranny?

2) For the oil, I was unable to get the tube through the disptick. I feel that there is something blocking the tube (the tube is pretty fine, hence it did fit though the tranny dipstick tube). Any idea why?

Thank you!

why didn't you just drain it from the oil drain plug at the bottom of the pan like a normal person

what i'm thinking happened is he changed his oil and his ATF.

he drained them from the bottom and wants to fill them from the top...

with the ATF actually it's not a bad idea (it keeps you from having to buy a pump and open up the tranny and fill there...) but obviously not the recomended way....

with your oil change... dude thats just damn lazy, open the valve cover cap and pour it in....

Please dont touch your car again that is the wrong way to change the tranny fluid. i didnt change all of it and it just mixed the new fluid with the old shitty fluid still left in the tranny and converter and #2 dude WTF did u try to do with the engine? use the oil drain plug thats the reason it was put there. I see bad things in your future if you keep apply your mechanical wizardry to your car lol

why would he attempt tp put oil in through the dipstick when the filler hold in the valve cover is obviously right there.

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. I was trying to drain the oil through the dipstick, not fill through there! Pump suction gets more oil out than drain plug. Mainly because of the oil pan design.

I never had a problem with inserting the suction tube done the dipstick in my other cars. I wonder what is keeping the pump suction hose from reaching the pan...

Also, any idea what that screw is on the rear housing of the tranny?

the hole could be for a cushioning spring in a shift solenoid. im not sure where they are located on the Stangs tranny. havnt had a close look at one out of the car. but as for the Draining with the pump, don't do that #1 the dipstick has a trap at the bottom to prevent the insertion of foreign objects and #2 have you had the oil pan off a 3.8 i have and i can tell you where the plug is positioned it drains all of the oil just fine. Who told you that removing the oil with a hand pump is better? cuz id like to slap them for you. infact if thats a new car im pretty sure shoving shit down ur dipstick will void your warranty.

Ford is far from a benz. and beleive me when i say the plug works fine ive done more oil changes then any one could shake a stick at. Thats all i did when i first started off at the ford dealership... gotta start small its one step up from washing cars haha id be worried about missing oil if i pumped it out by hand.

the filter is in a sweet spot! have u ever done an oil change on a 2.2l sunfire those suck ass you have to remove the passenger tire so u can get ur arm around the drive axle so u can loosen and then put a new oil filter on.
