reverse knock

I had asked about this once before and got a good answer here. I hear a knock whenever I put it in reverse. Well, now its starting to do it at random points in forward gears...

what was the name of that seal or whatever I need to change? I think somebody said it was easy to swap out too. I think Im going to do it this weekend. I'll drag my laptop into the garage when I do it and hope somebodys online incase I F* it up and need help.

Can someone tell me what the deal is????

means your trans is probably F'd and so is the amount you'll spend...takes about 30min to get the trans out if its a Manual...i got mine fully rebuilt for 365$ which is a real good deal....Autos will be a real pain and more expensive...then a manual build...also mine was built as a side job not a shop...but the guy who did it knew his shit and wanted to make extra money then doing it at his job lol nothing wrong with that for me

Do you have to "torque" any bolts to a specific pound? Thats where I freeze up. If its just a matter of taking it off and putting it back EXACTLY like it was, I'd be willing to give it a shot. I need to find a way to get the rear end off the ground enough to safely work under it. Maybe I'll get some ramps. I hate using jack stands. I get "puss" when it comes to these things because once its apart, its not like I can just drive it up somewhere with it in peices to have somebody put it back together.
i just moved into my house that was finished being built in March. I have a 3 car garage and NO excuses now to start doing these things more for myself now. I need to put that epoxy shit on the floor before I ruin it though.

Shit Chevy, if its real easy, I'll wait till your in the area for something and I'll pay you to do it. Better than paying some butthead down the street and I may learn something in the process!

tighten them down till u cant tighten any more. its not a gasket so u dont have to worry about over torquing it and as long as u dont snap the bolt off ur good,

i live about ~45-1hr away from tampa (depending on how i drive)...but a really good investment for you if your going to do a lot of this stuff your self is go to autozone or discount and get you a copy of the haynes repair manual...but it says in the haynes book to torque them down 70-90 ft pounds

it's an easy fix, and a new u-joint shouldn't cost you more than 20 or 30 bucks. you'll be able to unbolt and re-bolt no problem, like juggs said, tighten it until it won't come loose anymore.
