the air/fuel will be thrown off...regardless of the intake being ported/polished...your taking in more then usual air...even from just a CAI alone....so it will run better when the car is tuned for the correct settings over the stockers.....this has nothing to do with the MAF sensor...you dont make enough power and take in enough air to worry about that

Ah HA! I found it.

After putting on the Headers and the exhaust I found that one of the spark plugs had cracked. It appears that those NGK iridium plugs are extremely fragile.

Some casual conversation at the Auto Parts shop was quite enlightening. The counter nerd said that they have a very high return rate on those because they are so delicate. It seems that they have a high breakage rate from the factory and just any bump at all will cause them to fracture. They are MUCH more fragile than a standard platinum plug. His comment is that they probably have one in every 5 sets that is broken by the time it gets to the customer.

I had completely missed this because it would run fine with the lead tester and every plug was firing and all the wires checked perfect. Same case with the Mass Air and the oxy sensor on the exhaust. All tested great on the stand. BUT... on the road under load it would just start missing and backfiring like a demon. I decided to just start from ground zero and pulled out all the plugs and #6 just fell apart in my hand when I took it out.

Hope this helps someone down the road (so to speak).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and comments. I hope this solves the problem. I'm off to take it for a long ride in the hills just to make sure.

awesome! congrats!!

i never understood using the iridium plugs myself...... or plats....

copper is a better conductor than plat, so yah i may have to change it sooner, but i think i'll deal with the couple of bucks...

and the only point of those multi plugs (2 and 4) is that you don't have to change them as often, plus they come gapped from the factory so you can't even check them!

as we all know electricity takes the path of least resistance (shortest) so it doesn't matter if you have 4 prongs, it's only hitting on one of them. the point of having 4 is so that when the first one gets out of gap, it fires on the next, so on and so forth....

save your money... NGK coppers....

I'd love to get a PnP, but my finances are limited for at least the rest of the year on this project. I can do a little at a time here and there, so I'm done for a while.

On the plugs - I have no idea what you are talking about with the Multi-plugs. The NGKs are standard configuration with electrode/anode just like a traditional plug. The only difference is the shape of the electrode. It has a smaller diameter with a ball on the end, but not 3 or 4.

The whole idea with the iridium plugs is that they spark hotter to provide a more complete burn. And, as I understand it, they also tend not to corrode or foul as easily as platinum or standard copper.

Time will tell.

DO NOT USE PLATINUM PLUGS
use coppers
autolite copper or motocraft...NGKs are w/e
the tr5s are good for bolt ons you dont need a step colder for just bolt on mods though...its pointless
nitrous
s/c or turbo
and i would say 280rwhp you should use a step colder

seeing that almost no v6 on the site is pushing that much power yet aside from maybe 3-4 we should all be using stock plugs

platinums are for cars with a lot of miles really...or when a car thats needs more oil burnt they'll use hotter then stock plugs such as platinum

do not ever buy a bosch spark plugs

if your using double platinums or platinum 4s your an idiot.... you might think they look cool but they're bad for your car

bosch str8 up SUCKS when it comes to spark plugs

does this mean i don't get the Christorres8 seal of approval???

Av. i was simply saying that iridium plugs are... well... a waste... anything but a simple copper plug is a waste in my opinion.. i don't drive a nascar, i drive a V6 mustang... E.O.S.
