Best headers for S-197 Mustang

Does anyone know or can anyone point me to the best value headers for the '05-'07 S-197 V6? I want something that'll sound nice and throaty. I heard a sixer the other day at the Ford dealership that I could have sworn was a GT. The only way I knew it was a six was because the guy who owned it told me. He had headers, a true dual setup, and Magnaflows. Unfortunately I forgot to ask him what kind of headers he had. So I know there are some quality headers out there. Then there's the question of long-tube or shorties. I'm not sure which route I'd like to go at this point, but I'm leaning towards the shorties just in case I decide to do a turbo at some point.

I'll be grateful for any information anyone might have. =)

Shorties will not show a gain, but they do change the power curve which has helped a few a tad on the 1/4 mile. They showed a gain on my car, after I turbo'd it.

I would go shorties if you are going FI turbo. LT's if you are going SC down the road, or nitrous.

Though stock our cars flow very well, with the 100 shot I was running 13.6 with a x pipe and dual magnapacks. But for NA, they really don't show a significant amount of gain over stock.

I would do LCA's, gears and a lsd. That on top of cai and muffler w/tune make these cars run low to mid 14's all day long....and you can feel it on the street.

most turbo kits come with turbo headers....buying shorties is really a waste unless your making a turbo kit yourself

It's arriving Monday! =D It turned out that after I placed the order they were actually on backorder, yet they didn't mention this on their site. So I got charged but had to wait two weeks for them to become available again. I'm expecting it to come in on Monday and looking to have it installed early Tuesday by my friends at Kwik Kar. We put it on the lift the other day and my buddy said he could probably do it pretty easily so long that it comes with all the hangers and everything. The stock muffler has like four factory mounts.

It doesn't come with any rubber mounts. It has 2 hangers that stick out that basically mount using the factory rubber mounts. The only problem I had is that the muffler tip was hiting my bumper. My solution to that was to put a metal spacer to get it off of the bumper. That posed a second problem. One of the hangers didn't match up to the screw thread on the body. So I used a self driven screw. It took me a little longer then it probably should have...but this was my first time installing anything on a car (besides my tune)...and I didn't want to do a cheap job. But it came out great!!! I get compliments all the time on my exhaust.

Alright, breakout.

I...... got my muffler installed! =D

I'm so happy with it. It came in last night and I opened it up to look at it immediately. Then this morning I took it to my friends at Kwik Kar and they installed it within a half hour. They were having a bit of trouble getting it aligned straight with the bumper cutout, but eventually they got it pretty straight. It's not perfect, but it's not touching the bumper and it looks great! Then, they lowered it down off the lift and fired it up. I was simply in awe of my newfound exhaust! =) The startup and idle is magnificent. You can really hear the swoosh of the air when you crank the engine up. Then when reving it sounds really good, too. Oh, and it's LOUD. It sounds fantastic even during regular driving... you don't have to go fast at all in order to hear it. During higher RPMs it does get very loud and the drone comes in. I think my ears popped at least once. =P I did get a lot of looks, though. My car always gets looks, but instead of getting stares because of the way the car looks, I was getting them because of the way it sounded!

So all in all, I'm very, very pleased with my new MRT Aero Turbine muffler. It sounds wonderful... those videos on YouTube and on other Mustang sites don't do it justice. It doesn't sound like a GT other than the idle and really slow driving, but it never will. This muffler makes the most out of the 4.0. Thank you so much, breakout, for suggesting MRT exhaust. It's magnificent. =)
