dont put pennies in your wallet. It will leave marks on the outside that look like you have teeny tiny condoms inside.
Sorry, I have no clue Cangri. But I have less than you in my wallet right now. Although, I found out that the knock in my tranny (wasnt really my tranny afterall) was the U-Joints,,,could that be it? |

Theres 2 ujoints in a v-6. They cost about $25 each. I had a local shop tell me they'd charge an hours labor to do them both.
I'm going to have a friend help me with mine. Apparently its easy... if thats all your doing. I guess you have to take the driveshaft out. I found out that its best to have the driveshaft balanced as long as you have it down. Balancing is not something you can do yourself. I was also told that the job is not hard if you only want to replace the joints BUT you have to be carefull to "mark" the shaft to make sure everything goes back in in the same place and angle it went in. The whole thing makes me a bit uneasy. I mean, you fuck up the driveshaft somehow (I'd find a way) and it can come out when you drive. That scares me. Some people on this site seem real confident in doing it. All I know is that the knock doesnt go away and it can get worse and screw up more stuff. Ive been going real easy on the car. Im getting mine done in 2 weeks. It goes over the procedure in the Haynes with pics. Im not going to do it alone though.. plus, I dont have good jack stands or a way to get underneath the car right anyway. If thats is Cangri, thats good compared to other things it could be. This isnt real expensive to correct. |

no kidding! they will look soon dont worry!!
This doesnt happen from holes in the road or rough terrain. Its the joints that hold your drivehaft to your backend.... I think. Its just a wear and tear part. It wears out over time. I was told "burning out" and being rough on your car makes it wear faster but doesnt that make everything wear faster? Anyway, it looks like a cross with knobs on the ends and fits at the end of the driveshaft. Symptoms are usually what give you an idea that they might be worn. When I put my car in reverse it will make one nice "clunk" sound. Nothing else is giving symptoms... no slipping or anything else, just a clunk. Over time its gotten worse. I hear clunks when its downshifting to a stop at the start of a gear. Im guessing its because with the joint worn, the driveshaft is not "snug" in the right spot so Im hearing the joint hit the driveshaft. The only real way to check is to open it up and look and see if they are worn. |

if your u joints are bad it will be at a certaint rpm in every gear.
there is no use in buying new u joints if your car doesn't need them how to check if your joints are bad: get under your car..(when cold) try to turn your driveshaft by hand. if you have more than an inch of play it's time to replace them.

Its bad u-joints if u hear a clunk at the engagement of a gear but it goes away after you reach a certain speed it will also cause vibrations and all that good shit. they are cheap tho
