Hood Scoop Help!Dilema. Will the black work well on the paint scheme if i add a black stripe to fill in the middle bevel like the Mach 1 or not? I heard that cutting out the hoodscoop grille on the stock hood is extremely hard because it tends to catch on the plastic grille. Drilling the holes out also has that same effect. Is this true? opinions appreciated. Here's some pics to help. My Car ![]() The Hood Scoop ![]() Ex. Mach 1, i know the scoop isnt a shaker hood but this is the closest i could come to an example of what i want. [img][/img]

I did the same thing with my 6er about a year ago. I had an atlantic blue mustang. I wanted to do the same thing u were doing so i bought the black bullitt hoodscoop and black bullitt rims to match it. I didnt want to paint the hoodscoop atlantic blue i wanted my car to be unique and plus it would match the rims so i left the hoodscoop black and went to an autobody shop. All they did was screw about 6 holes into my hood and put the scoop on and it looked amazing. My advice to you is put the bullitt hoodscoop on, it will match the rims and also the black lining on the side of your car. The only thing is dont trouble yourself to make it functional, it will look the same and its jsut a pain in the ass to cut the whole hood and stuff. And one more thing....DO NOT do it yourself or let a friend drill holes into your hood because it sounds simple but you could easily crack the paint on your hood and ruin the whole thing.......

a functional hood scoop is not worth the effort
even the shaker scoops dont see any serious gains

the one i was looking at on 50resto.com used 3M double sided tape to hold it down. I was just curious as to how well that would actually hold up to wind speeds on a highway. i don't want my brand new scoop to become an airplane.
