question about the 4.2L engines....

i don't know why ford doesnt just put the 4.2l engine in straight from the factory instead of the 3.8.....

but i have a question for the guys who have 4.2l's .... is there a big sound difference between the 4.2 and 3.8..i know there is a 50-60hp dif. but i'm just wondering how the 4.2 sounds

yes, same block/just stroked. you would be better off getting one built from superxixmotorsports or the like and getting a new cam as well as some porting and polishing...

GT is already bad on the charts when you know engine power vs how much power it can take

precision sells a $2k 4.2L engine
they can build it much cheaper then the $7,000 engines at SSMS

swapping to a 4.2L built is a Direct replace ment. the v8 would require exhaustdifferent clutch
wiring and ECU

why would you wanna swap from a 4.2 to a 4.6?

just wondering? and why are our cars push rods? that sucks

uhh yea the big thing is switching the blocks... 4.3 = 3.8 well the block are the same... you might have to do some clearance work to get the crank to clear the block if you go over 4.2 litres

well i know it's easier to go from 3.8 - 4.2

your response almost reads like your saying if you go 4.2 now, then when you want to go to the V8 later, it's easier.

i just read it, and yes lol it looks just like it

my bad on the post
i meant easier to do a 4.2L swap then to do a v8 swap

plus swapping to just a stock GT motor is dissapointing...usually the swap is doen for more power....well when you want more power then that...you'll have to do another swap
might as well get a stroker v8 which arent nearly as cheap as a 4.2L built

plus a 4.2 is just more exciting...

cause then when people say "is that a V8?" you can say no with a sneeky smile on your face....

so the 4.2 IS a 6cyl right... thats a sleeper but it just seems more logical to go w/ the 4.2 and throw a super charger or turbo on there and have just as much horse as a cobra(99-02 model)... that just makes sense to me!!

i just feel that there is more potential with an over head cam... ya know...

i just haven't seen the full benefits of both comparatively and their for know that since my car is push rod and slow at the same time where as a gt is OHC and fast that deductively i can come to the conclusion that push rods are slower... but thats only because thats the world i have been exposed to...

im not saying that either suck or rock... i just wish that they were OHC's instead...
