size of tips....

So there is another thread about pipe size on a V-6 that has some straight up un-debate-able facts.

Now the fun question. Do the size of the tips coming off the 2.25's make a difference? Ive heard many opinions on this. The only thing I know for fact is that it DOES have an affect on airflow because its creating low pressure at the end of the exaust. Is that good or bad?

Ive noticed something else on the road too. Especially with foreign cars. Look at some of the exhausts that have "bigger" tips. Inside the tip is a "smaller" pipe in the middle. If it didnt matter, why would they make them like this???

what do you think???

The larger the tip the more it will resonate a bit. I have some 3" tips, but goin for some 4" since that will fill the cut outs a lot better. That right there is like blowing through a straw that acts like the opening of a funnel at the end. It's still only goin to allow so much and that funnel tip really won't do much at all.

my 2.25 looks pretty shitty with a black widow rear bumper.. the slots for the duals are HUGE in those... so 4 inch tips should be great... mine are 2.25 x 8 x 4... hopefully they will be in by the next week

I'm pretty sure that getting incredibly long tips will do something to the sound, I've actually never had the chance to compare different sizes in any way, but I'm thinking wide and long (i'm talking like over a foot long) tips will amplify your exhaust's sound a little more and make it a little deeper.
