Clarification Needed

i have a 2000 v6 pretty much stock. I am trying to find a gt 8.8 rear end and i just need some clarification.

I was told 94-98 8.8 are 2" shorter then 99-04.

Is the 94-98 8.8 still 2" shorter then my 2000 7.5 rear.

A local has a 95 8.8 posi rear with disc brakes and 5 lug for $150

this is the photo of the rear the guy has.

Will this work for my 2000 v6? Will it be 2" shorter/skinnier then my stock 7.5?

And lastly will i need any additional part?

Shorter /Skinnier...

The 94-98 is 2" shorter than the 99-04... you'd have to use wheel spacers and I'd only use spacers in the $100 range...

Wait it out and get an 8.8 from the 99-04 models.

I waited and got one with an aftermarket cover and 4.10s installed already for $300...

This, was it a junkyard find? I am dead set on doing 4.10s in the near future and I would kill to find a deal like this!

Happened to be bitching in the clubhouse section how my stock rear-end blew up and was spitting out goo and metal in the street. Someone from the Modular section happened to see it and PM'ed me that they had totaled their 2004 GT, were looking to part it out, and had the rear end in tact.

Even if hes not its still a good upgrade. Has a Tlok in it already which is a huge plus considering 7.5 tloks are getting harder and harder to find. And 7.5's arent that strong to begin with so once you do any real performance mods youre risking it.
