HOW TO FILL UP TORQUE CONVERTER?
SO I TOOK THE ENGINE OUT OF MY CAR AND IT IS GETTING REBUILT AT A SHOP.
I HAVE A QUESTION THOUGH WHEN I PULLED OUT THE ENGINE FROM THE TRANNY IT LEAKED A BUNCH OF ATF FROM THE TORQUE CONVERTER. WHEN I GET THE ENGINE BACK DO I NEED TO PUT AFT ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER OR IT WILL PUMP ITSELF AND ILL JUST FILL IT AT THE DIPSTICK... THANX |

as long as the converter has at least 2 qrts in it, it will be fine. when installing a new converter, that is what is on the instructions. it is just to deep from a dry start, and will fill itself when you put fluid in it.

but how do you fill it up and keep it from spilling when you are installing the engine? |

The torque convertor is supposed to stay on the front of the transmission.
You were supposed to remove the torque convertor to flex plate bolts before removing the engine. To install it you need to check for seal damage which may have occured when the torque convertor came out bolted up to the engine. If the seals are OK just put some trans fluid in the convertor and install it on the transmission. Then lower the engine in and bolt it up. As soon as the engine starts stop it and add trans fluid. |
