Loss of Power when a/c is turned on and more...help please!

Ok, so here are the problems that I'm dealing with...

1. When I turn on the a/c, I feel a loss in power. The car basically drives sluggish. The idle is all over the place and the car just doesn't drive as smooth.

2. The a/c will blow ice cold during a quick ride, however, it will stop blowing from the vents after a long ride. I can still feel it cold around the vents, but nothing is blowing out. It sounds like it's blowing out of the defrost vents, but I can't feel any air coming out there either.

3. I don't know if this is normal or not, but the outer part of the a/c compressor clutch spins with the pulley. It might sound like it is supposed to do that but it spins really slow, while the pulley spins really fast.

4. It seems like only when the a/c and the stereo are on together, I hear a high pitch humming noise from the left side of my dash. As soon as I turn the stereo off, it goes away. It doesn't do this unless the a/c is on too though. This problem is also tempermental. It seems like it will only do this after a longer ride.

I know these problems are out of the ordinary, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

this is normal.
you are robbing power from your car when you turn on you a/c

try recharging you ac system.
to fix the air issue

I don't think i need to recharge it because when it does blow, it blows really cold. It will just stop blowing all together after a longer ride. It sounds like it's blowing but nothing is coming from the vents.

do you get a weird sound at all before it stops blowing?

could be a bad blower motor.

if your a.c system doesn't have any oil or coolant or anything in it the whole unit can freeze up... happened to my brothers car...

Normal? I think not, turning on the ac shouldn't make a car feel sluggish, or non smooth, idle may move a slight bit but if its enought where your complaning I think you have a problem.

people tend to over state their ails sss.. you know that.

if it happens when he turns on his A/C.. it's probably his A/C system failing or one of it's components or partner components.

Ok I use to do heating and ac before I found a Better paying job.
The reason you ac is blowing really cold air for a short time Is because you are low on freon. That is allso why after a long run you have no air flow out the vents.

What is happening is because you are low on freon you evaporator coil is icing up. It is getting so cold that ICE is forming on it and BLOCKING the air.

Look under the hood and make sure you have a system that take 134a refrigant. Then go to walmart and get a can with oil to shoot in the system. Follow the directions.

just go buy a refill kit from an auto store or wal mart or something it has instructions on how to do it.
