are you looking to get the heads port and polished and maybe the throttle body ported for a bigger size? that would probably be what you are considering... now their are some places online that might be able to help you but you have to ship things out... some other people might be able to give you some links

Im just looking to add as much power as i can for under $800. (NO Nitrous though). So what kinds of gains would i get from port and polishing and the throtle body ported bigger?

Ok, i would greatly appreciate any help i can get. Ive been looking around for awhile now and havent really found any good info. I also tried calling two machine shops near me, but neither answered.

If you wanted to modify the top end this site would give you some idea

http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/

It would be more than $700.

If you wanted to do a valve ring job that might improve performance to stock for about $700. Perhaps you could even install a new cam for that much.

but it would be a lot cheaper to take it to a machine shop...and you wouldnt be able to do much on 700..you could port and polish your heads and manifolds.....mabe bore out your cylinders but then youll have to get bigger pistions.....bore out your valves and getting bigger valves....bore out your throttle body

I agree that it would cost more than $700.

I was suggesting removing and dissassembling the engine and having a machine shop do the work then reassemble it yourself.

It cost me ~$500 for a stock valve job and new exhaust guides plus gaskets. So $700 isn't enough.

stage 3 heads are $1650

btw the guy who suggested a cam
that cam isnt the best idea unless he doesnt want to mod any further

a better bang for the buck then that cam is nitrous or turbo or a s/c

nitrous kits are cheaper then that...clearly more power

a turbo kit....$600 for the cam...a turbo kit is about $3800-4400 just the kit
cam power-20hp about
turbo at just 4 psi-100rwhp
but turbo options arent limited! 10psi will get you 330rwhp which is a good 170rwhp+ gain from stock
thats over 8 timesmore power then the cam
and the turbo has much more potiental then that
not to mention torque numbers

the stage 3 heads alone will probably not gain 60hp on a stock application
with a vortech close very close probably about 50
with a cam you can see the 60hp and the vortech

stage 3 is mainly for forced induction

12psi on a stock bottom end with heads and cam and ported intakes made 440rwhp

generally 12psi would be about 350rhwp
ssms only claims 90hp...that car gained 90rwhp with basically a stage 3 power pak. ported intake would shoot about 20rwhp
4psi turbo makes about 250rwhp, guy with ported intakes makes 274rwhp

the cam and heads make the other 70rwhp which is about 85-bhp

Disclaimer. I have no idea what changes in power any of these modifications would make, nor do I know what effect they would have on reliability, or what works with what.
