When your under the car, it will be on the right (passenger) side of the transmission.
It will be right above the drain bolt. You cant just pour it in. You need a "grease gun" (or similar design) to put it in. When its full, it will over flow. Its not that bad of a job. Have fun.

EDIT: To add. they dont look like a regular bolt. They are flat with the tranny and you need hex keys to take them off.

speaking of tranny fluid, I asked how much it was to have it changed by Goodyear and they said $170! WTF!!! He said Ford uses some crazy synthetic now and its cost a bundle. That seems like BS.

All you need to do is drain the old and rplace with new right? How much can that shit cost??

i got mine done at the ford dealership for 120 bucks and thats with a new fuel filter too. the good thing about having it done at the dealership i heard is that they flush it out.

The only way it would be so much is if you have a manual. Manuals dont use tranny fluid. They use Heavy weight gear box oil. the gear box oil is more money then tranny fluid.

changing your tranny fluid/oil basically is flushing it. If you want to get technical, all you have to do it leave the drain plug open while you pump new fluid/oil in it.

By draining it from the plug are you draining it from the torque converter too?? Any1 know. I think thats why they charge a lot cuz theres about 2 quartz in the torque converter and the rest in the tranny... they have to flush everything out and install a new filter with gasket

Dude, thanks for sharing that. Thats good stuff. It will help me figure out if its worth me trying to screw up myself.

Thats a TON cheaper. Thats too cool. But this topic has raised other issues like the fluid in the torque converter. Does it fill back up from the fill hole? I'll keep watching this topic.... thanks Roush..

No. it doesnt. You need to fill it up from the Dip stick to fill up the torque converter. If you do it from underneath, you are not going to fill everything up correctly.

You put it in the filler hole until it overflows. Then you turn the car on and start putting it in the dipstick hole until it is full. Put 1/2 a quart in it, and check the level with the dip stick (keep the car running when checking the level). Stop when its full.

i think only autos have dip sticks and 5 speeds dont have filters its only autos too

but if you fill it from that hole it will recirculate to the converter

and yeah i think this topc will help a lot of people out i kow it sure helped me

the computer at work said it only takes like 2 2/3 or something like that ...tats including the converter

might be different for autos ill check tommorow

your computer is wrong. lol. It holds almost 5 quarts. lol. and to get it to recirculate to the converter properly, you have to do it through the dip stick.

Autos do only have dip sticks. 5 speeds do not have filters.

Couple months ago I called the dealer with 40,000 on mine and asked for fluid change. He asked me year and vin # and promptly replied that does not need changing until 150,000 or 5 years. Has synthetic. He saved me $135.00 IMO would have Ford dealer do it. I also use Mobil 1, Full Synthetic motor oil and change every 10,000 at $50.00 per change. Been using synthetic since 1975 and get same mpg at 150,000 ; Same when bought new. FYI
