rpm tach

my rpm tach never goes over 3,400rmp, when they gave me the car i wasnt sure what was stock from the car
it is a 1994 with OBD2, but thats bside the point, so what my friend told me is that if the gauge cluster is stock. cause if it wasnt it could of been from a 4.6 or 5.0 and the pulse would be diff and the tach wouldnt read it correctly
so do u think that could be the prob or thats mayb its broke?

you have an ODBI, not OBDII. It should redline at 4800. what is the max speed on the speedo?

if the speed is maxed at 150, then someone pulled the speedo out of a gt. You need to get it calibrated. And, 94 is OBDI

OBDII is more complex to read. it was introduced for emissions laws and such. I really dont feel like getting technical with it. BAsically, with obd2, it pinpoints problems to the exact area of the engine. Where, obd1, just said "left bank lean" , etc, etc etc. lol. Just take it to a speed shop and have them calibrate it for you. Also, OBDII wont plug into OBDI without an adapter (OBDII to OBDI). were you using an adapter for it? thats the only way it will read it.

yeah, obd1 is under the hood, right by the strut tower. OBD2 is by the gas pedal. Did someone do a 96+ engine swap on your car by any chance? cuz your car did not come stock with obd2

uh yah me lol the reason my bro gave it to me is because he shot 2 rods, he told me fix it and u can have it , so i did. so i went of and i got me a 96 engine (w/o wiring harness or pcm, with out noing that is was obd2) i had to change all of my old sensor into my new engine becuase the harness wouldnt connect to the new sensor that came with the engine,, and i see no signs of the connector by the sturt toweer

its OBD2... i can go find sites that prove it

the v6 was a mule per se... they started the OBD2 in 94 on the v6 to see how it would work... then once they switched to the modular motor they went obd-2 in all mustangs

and gratz on switching the engine...

is it an auto?

if you wanna make your car magic ... get a tuner... sniper is prefered by most on here... cuz they are brain washed and SCT by almost everyone as well...
