Launching help!!!
I need all the tips you guys have...when I launch, or at least attempt to, I either: bog and not launch, let go of the brakes and spin off the line, or hold it and start into a breakstand meaning I have to let out and not launch at all. Should I start in first instead of drive, should I ease into the gas instead of flooring it right away(it seems the trottle is more responsive at half throttle than at wot) should I not put the brake pedal to the floor, od on or off?...what am I missing here??? I actually watched 2 people launch better than me in my car, but they couldn't explain how...it pulls nicely but getting a car put on you at launch is rough...I thought the 275's would help, but at least I have the power to break them loose lol

ok back when i had my auto v6 i used to do the following...
1. turn o/d off 2. turn trac control off 3. turn a/c off 4. drop to first 5. lightly hold the break and rev the car up alittle bit (mine used to goto 1800) till you are reving but the tires aren't spinning and youre sitting still...then when its go just let the break out (dont pop it out) and push the gas to the floor. and I'm not sure how true this or if it doesnt help but when i shifted the auto i used to goto about 4800 and slap it up but i would let off the gas till i heard the gears shift then slam it again...my car would jump forward alittle... |

when i had an auto, i would press the brake pedal pretty hard and find the spot where i wont burn out with the throttle. just practice.

isn't that really bad on the brake system when holding it down and gasing it?

if youre burning out power break style it wears you brakes down but its not really gonna hurt it if the tires are still...

whats the elevation by you and do u have racing tires or not? i live in two different areas with different elevations and the best way to lauch is different for both. i practiced with a escort gt-1 until i got my fastest launch. the best way i figured out to launch with my car at about sea level was to hold the brake down with ur left foot and as soon as u want to go press the gas and let go of the brake at the same time. this is also with stock tires. if u have aftermarket tires with higher speed ratings u want to hold the brake down rev to 1800 rpms (or when u feel the car wants to move) and then let go of the brake.

for an auto i would recomend revving to about 2500 (up to 3500 if you have t-lok on your car) with the e brake on full, then when you want to launch just drop the e brake so it is no longer active, then hit the gas wot, having overdrive on or off makes apsolutly no differance what so ever, it is not so terrible on your brakes, it might cut the brake pad life down by 10% as long as you drive pretty easy the rest of the time

Hmmm e brake launch, ill try that, but not at 2500 I can barely get to 2k with the break pedal to the floor and the tire is spinning
