oil pressure

I just finished dropping my new 3.8 bored engine. and I didn't replace the pressure relief valve. does anyone know how long they last? should I take it all apart to change it? is it really important to replace it. I have not started the engine yet.

I don't believe it will be any problem. Unless you had an oil pressure problem before it most likely is fine. After the engine is running you might measure the oil pressure and compare to specs.

it should be fine as long as your pressure was ok before you bored it out but may i suggest priming your oil pump with a oil pump primer too that way u don't get a dry start.

then the by pass valve should be fine just on the first start watch the pressure if it doesn't drop like hell unless your revving it then its fine if u have to rev it to keep the pressure up youve got an issue with main bearing clearance or the pressure release valve is stuck. but u should be just fine.
