ford racing t-lock

for my next mod i was thinking about going with 4.10s and a t-lock (i have an auto). i have two concerns tho. first i drive on the highway weekly for about 2 1/2 hours and was wondering what my idle would be at going 70mph and 80mph. right now at 80 mph im idling at 2500rpms. second i read some where that the ford racing t-lock requires clutch replacing every 30K miles or so. is that right and how much to replace that?

the tlock wont require clutch replacement every 30k miles provided after you install it about 2 weeks later after youve broken it in you get your gear oil changed to flush out the metal shavings the break in proses produced. I have a ford racing im putting in. and go here this will calculate all your rpm's for you http://www.svtoa-atlanta.org/cgi-bin/trans.cgi

i thought that i had the t-5 but it doesn't have the sixer option is it the same as the last years of the 5.0?

anyways oddly enough people say they see an increase in stop and go driving... just because it makes the car get to speed easier/quicker

Your rpms should be around 2700... maybe a tad higher. I have 4:10's and t-lok myself.

because when you put in lower gears you raise your rpms and when you do that your top speed will decrease

it will probably last longer then u have the car providing you maintain the gear oil in the diff. after the install and a 2 week break in period of nice driving but not to abusive. change the gear oil clean out any metal shavings ofcourse there will be a bit. and then fill it back up.

And if you really want to see that last the lifetime of the car, I can not state enough times that you want to do preventative maint on it... and its just a simple matter of changing the gear oil in the back now and then....

100% correct every 15-20k changethat oil with some fresh stuff keeps the metal shavings from working there way into a bearing or bearing cup.

LOL, if you think thats horrible, try driving a '70 GTO with a 4.10 in it....

2700-2800 at 70 is not bad at all, its well within tolerance for the motor, and your gains in power/acceleration outweigh the loss of mpg and higher rpms....
