Gear Swap on a 98'

Hey everyone. New here on moddedmustangs so hi and thanks in advance for any help!

My father is looking to make a gear replacement (2.73 to a 3.27) on his 98' Mustang. He's curious how to set it up, how to shim it, torque specs, all that good stuff. Anyone know, or know where we could find that information online or elsewhere? What else should he watch for/make sure to do. It's a 7.5 rear axle if that helps. He said he's done one before but it was a long time ago. Any written instruction to jog the memory would be great.

Thanks in advance
~Brandon "Bpuckhead89"

Had an 87' for my first car, man I loved that thing. Someday I'll be back in one for sure... but you know how it goes

if he has not done it before then i recommend getting it done this is coming from me where i have done them before just did my own and it was a pain in my shaft! literally. but if he must always keep the stock pinion shim and carrier shims label everything that comes from each side dont mess it up then install the new carrier and pinion gear and use the stock shims put them back where they came from and if your reusing the bearing cups and such they all have to go back where they came from and then check the ring gear run out and back lash if its in the gears specified specks then reassemble and fill it with gear oil if not then you must add or subtract shims. and thats not even all the info u should know and have there is so much more i aint typing cuz it wouldnt make a difference if u dont already know what im saying now. long story short ur going to fuck something up bad if u have not done it before. there are literally 10-20 measurements torque specks and preloading measurements to take. and lastly dont go 3.73 those are for pussy's and stock 99-04 stangs get real gears :wink may i suggest 3.73 or 4.10's?
