Cooling Fan wont turn on!

I just finished dropping my rebuilt motor and started it with no problem. I saw that the temp kept going up and i know the thermostat works because i checked it in boiling water.

I did notice that the cooling fan wont turn on. Any help, how can i diagnose it??? thanx

Ok i connected the motor directly to the battery and it turned on no problem. so then i connected everything back and started up the engine and the fan would not turn on, so this time i disconnected the engine coolant temp sensor and outomatically the fan turned on at high speed. I dont know what could be wrong

i just left the coolant temp sensor off so the fan could always be working and my engine wont heat up.

Any ideas???

so... something is busted... when u disconnect the coolant temp sensor the fan will turn on so that way u dont heat up... u have a tuner? or have u mess up with the fan temp activation or w.e....

why would the problem would be corrected by a electric water pump if that not even the prob... its the fan not the pump...

im glad you caught that. I meant to say get a thermal kit. the thermal kit consists of an electric coolant pump, electric fan, electronic thermostat, optimized radiator and heat exchangers, along with a feedback control system. Though, if he's not going to be modding his car too much, he may not want to get one...

I checked the Haynes book for wiring diagrams but there isn't one for the 3.8L, so i dont know what fuse or breaker goes to the fan.

WoA i never knew an electronic thermostat existed. All that sounds real neat but you are right I wont mod my car I just want to get that fixed.

the fan motor could be fucked its that simple. easiest way to check is to remove the fan and jump it to the battery if it spins you have a wiring issue.

if it was just the sensor then he wouldnt have been through 2 head gaskets. i have a feeling its a coolant blockage in the block or rad and or a tranny issue.
