1995 3.8L V6 swap to 5.0L V8

Hello everyone. First off, I wanted to say this is a great site! Lots of info, great stuff
Now, I am the proud owner of a 95 V6 3.8L Mustang. I love her to death, problem is, she's got 179,500 miles on the original engine. I am tossing the idea around to swap out that ol' 3.8L V6 and put in a 5.0L V8, BUT have been told that it isn't worth it. Has anyone on this board done this, and if so, did u have any troubles with the swap? What all do I need besides the engine, tranny, wires, sensors, harnesses?
If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

That's what alot of ppl are saying. And I think that's what I am going to do. Its just finding a car around here that's such a pain in the butt. There's not a lot of good selection here in Idaho. Guess I will just have to keep looking. Convertibles aren't my style, and so finding a coupe in good condition is going to be difficult.

yea, i mean for kampa, dude i understand how he loves the car, but i mean if u want a v8, then it is a lot more cost efficient to buy one instead of turn a v6 into a v8...now if u have to keep the v6 then get a 4.2 built v6 and switch it out

ok heres the truth if your planning to just put a v8 in and not the tranny or rear end you are going to end up with a lot of problems in the long run. go to a salvage yard, craigslist, or my personal favorite, copart.com and get a donor car. i got a 96 cobra on copart for $2000 and swapped everything i could over to my v6. in the end it cost me around 100-200 dollars, thats cheaper then you can get any engine for. for that 100-200 dollars i doubled the hp, got dual exhaust, 8.8 rear and, manual transmission, new rims and tires, cobra bumper, new speakers and head unit, and even spent 500 in parts to fix up the broken pullys on the engine. the best route for your swap is going to be checking copart for a crashed v8 mustang that you can swap everything u need out of.
