My top goes up so slow-any ideas whats wrong?


So the top on my convt is going up slow. Used to take bout 20 secs for it to go up and me lock it, now Its like 1 min. I have to go up a lil drop it go up drop it and then it goes up. Anyone know whats wrong with it? Thanks.

you having electrical issues? If the motors running slow, check to make your battery is holding a charge. Takes alot of juice to bring it up and down. Do you notice a difference when the car is off as compared to it being on? I mean, mines always a bit slower with it off cuz its running from the battery alone.

Hopefully its something simple like that. You need to pray its not the motor assembly.... unless you have lots of $$ to spend!!

Check the electrical situation. If thats not it, put some "silicon" ( the kind in an aerosol can) and lay it into all the joints on the top. Bring it up and down and let that shit soak in. that may help too.

it could be a fuse maybe... when fuse are almost dying thing would get slow.. my windows took like 1-2 minutes to go down.. i check almost everything then i check the fuse.. it was almost completely black.. i change it and tada! like new

cool thanks for the ideas guys, ill check them today or tomorrow.

Whent he car is off it doesnt really effect it but it drops in like 13 secs so its still good there

... lube the tops chasis... and inspect the motors ... if anything is sticking then that will slow it down... i helped my friend do this to his old POS celica... and it seem to help it alot

you could also try the speed adjustment knob under the steering wheel.
