2000 V6 Information

I recently purchased my first Mustang...a 2000 3.8L V6 5speed. It has 92k miles and is in great shape.

It did not come with an owners manual so I have a few questions.

What weight of oil is recommended for the car? It's a stock engine with a cold air intake.

What grade of Transmission fluid is recommended?

What weight of rear differential Fluid?

And what is the maintenance schedule and at what milage should it be preformed?

What is the type of transmission (manual) and what gearing does the car rear have?

I have a 2002 F250, so I love Fords. I run only Royal Purple and Pure One Filters in my truck. That is what I will be running in my new Mustang. Just don't have the specs for what the car calls for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

William

I have a 00 6er too... you don't need to worry about trans fluid if u have a manual trans... the oil i believe is 5w-30 but you can look on the inside of the hood and it'll tell u... since its got high miles on it like mine.. i usually change it every 2500 - 3500 miles... i just like to keep the oil fresh so everything runs nice and smooth in there... how is that royal purple stuff.... i usually use mobil oil.. i've been using that since i got the car and hasn't dissappointed me! and i've never heard of rear differential fluid so i can't tell u with that but fyi i've never changed or put any in if there is such a thing and my car's done fine!! you also can go to any ford dealership and get an owners manual for ur car.. they might/probably have to order it for you but they'll have it!!

hope that helped

What weight of oil is recommended for the car? It's a stock engine with a cold air intake. 5w-30 if you winter starts early. if your in florida id get 10w30. if your engine is kinda knocking then try a 40 weightt

What grade of Transmission fluid is recommended? mercon V i believe for manual...

What weight of rear differential Fluid?- 75-90. if its making alot of noise use a 140weight

And what is the maintenance schedule and at what milage should it be preformed?
oil change- conventional oil every 3000 miles....synthetic you can do 4000-5000...if i were you i'd use synthetic or royal purple..and try a K&N oil filter...best ive ever used.
air filter-since you have a CAI it comes with a washable filter i hope..so just wash that about 20k-30k miles...i would do it every 10k miles or less...it takes a few seconds only
fuel filter- about every 12000 miles. purolater or motocraft is good. im trying motorcraft for the first time in a few weeks.
Spark plugs- if you drive fast or race even a little use copper. that should be changed about 10,000-12,000 miles
platinum can go a little longer to about 14-15k miles and iridium as well if not longer..
Spark plug wires- 100,000miles
radiator flush-every year and a half or 2 years

What is the type of transmission (manual) and what gearing does the car rear have?
what?!
if you have a 5pseed your tranny is a t-5
your rear is a 7.5 with 3.27 gears
