air in after the mass

Ive been having this problem of misfireing, hesitation and loss of power. It doesnt happen all the time. When it does happen, I shut the car off, turn it back on and its gone. well, the last time it happened it threw a CEL at me.

I changed the fuel filter and it did it again. Ive looked over everything and its got me stumped. But, I found something different that I hadnt noticed before.

On my aftermarket intake theres a hole with a "plug" in it. Its after the MAF about half way up to the throttle body. It looks like some kind of hole designed for a sensor or something but its not used for my model I guess. Anyway, that plug was loose. Its not like it was falling out but maybe air could have been getting in. Having that air get into the intake at that point can cause hell right? I just want to know, can this cause a problem? I taped it up real good to seal it off and I know for sure now that no air is getting in. what do you think???

Sad to say, I ripped all that off to look for any leaks. There shouldnt have been any but i didnt want to leave anything to chance. Sure enough, under my wrap was that plug and it was loose. SOB! I closed that hole up real good and its been running fine. But, like everything else, we'll see in a few days.

its a stupid design in that pipe. Im sure its "generic" in nature to fit other models. That hole is dumb!!! Its plugged good now. I just drove in stop and go traffic about 15 miles. No problems as of yet. I really think that was it. Im not bothering with putting the wrap back on...
