Hood Scoop

Probably should be in the visual section, but the V6 guys are the ones wanting the scoops.

So, I finally got the scoop in today. It came with all the mounting hardware & template. I actually made my own template out of wood because i didnt want to mess with a paper one.

Got it here:
http://www.customautotrim.com/hood_s...duct.php/Ford/

Pics:

I may get the m1 chin spoiler next, what do you think?

Scoops looks Kill! I always did thenk the 1999+ Mustang needed a soop. As for the chin splitter, get the Boss Shinoda splitter instead. A little more cash, but it is more pronounced, made of super high quality foberglass, is paintable, and is extremely functional (removes steerign wheel vibrations and helps cornering and ecceleration. They list for $255 from Shinoda Performance Vehicles, but we an authorized dealer/builder for SPV and are offering 10% off list bringing it down to $224.50+S&H. Chek out pics at TeamShinoda.com They have 'em for 1994-1998 V6, GT or Cobra, 1999-2004 V6, GT, or Cobra, and 2005- GT and V6. Good job on the scoop again, looks nice!!!

How does it help remove steering wheel vibration and cornering and acceleration?

Me too. I want to hear what he says. If its in the aerodynamic, you would probably have to going super fast to notice a difference. Lets see if he ever replies.... my bet is that he doesnt.

Common sense says that with the limited power of a V-6, the bumper could be shaped like a brick and it still wouldnt make much difference in your acceleration. Could the claim be based on weight? Maybe its 5 pounds lighter so that how he justifies it. I'd love to hear his answer... we'll see.

They work by channeling the air around the front of the vehicle. This removes most of the steering wheel vibration and aids in acceleration by making the front of the car more aerodynamic. Every customer car we install these on has had nothing but praise for them. The Mach 1 is not aerodynamic, like the Shinoda and the 2000 Cobra R. The only thing bad about them is the fact that if you wack them on a speed bump they can break, whereas the Mach 1, since it is just a small asthetic piece (Rubberized ABS plastic) will just tuck under iteslf.

first, adding that spoiler wont lose any weight. & well, he's probably basing that off the theory that the chin spoiler directs the wind around the tires. okay, so the wind isnt hitting the tires anymore...buuuut its going to hit the chin spoiler (not only where the tire is, but also in the middle). as for cornering wtf

but from my depth in knowledge from astrophysical aerodynamic physics, i would say that the wind hurls toward the chin spoiler creating a vortex type wirlwind, that passes over the side bumper missing the tires, all while propelling the car forward creating a faster 'ecceleration'.

Actually, the performance from 0-50 really does not inmpove, but above 50MHP is where it works. Just throwing out the option out there for you all, by all means, go with what you think looks good. Listen, front air splitters are not a cure all, they will not take a stock V6 into the 10's, nor will they allow you to out handle a Mini Cooper S type, or Ferrari Enzo, but they do help. This is proven with wind tunnel testing. That is why Ford Racing made them production on the R.

The turbulant air (most of it) is not around the tires, but under the car. This is mostly a poor design on the 1999-2004 Mustangs, as they naturally slope up on the bottom of the front valance. The splitter corrects this. As far as cornering, same thing, reduction of under vehicle air makes the car more stable. This will probably not be noticed however, unless you are traveling at 100MPH or so, but the steering wheel vibration and increase in 50+ acceleration will be noticed and are all related. Like I said, get what you want, that is the great thing about Mustangs. There is a part out there for everybody. By the way, we do make money off the sale, but the difference bewteen our cost and our sale price is only $9, hardly worth it. I in no way want to start WW3, just letting you know.

They are a very high quality piece, but I agree, they are a little pricey, honestly.
