if you want it to it can.

most just replace the stock ones with their own.

i also have an exhaust question.... how big is the stock pipe on a 99 V6? is it 2 and 1/2 " ? and if so.... rather than getting a cat back kit where the new piping would be 2 and 1/2 " would i be able to get a similar sound from just adding a new muffler and removing the resonator?

ya my friend put a magnaflow muffler on his and it sounds pretty good. but remember your going to only have a single exhaust, not dual. Dual looks, sounds, and performs better.

well not gaining any performance doesnt bother me....im just looking for a bit of a deeper sound...also i dont want to be confused for a gt so the look doesnt matter either...

does putting just mufflers on sound quite a bit different from duals? or not really too different of a sound? and btw what kind of magnaflow muffler did your buddy put on his?

the stock piping is only 2". so by buying an aftermarket exhaust, you will go up to 2.5" and free up some hp and your power bamnd will move a lil bit into higher rpms

cant the body shop just slap on a muffler to your stock piping?

im not sure which magnaflow muffler he got but it sounds good and deep. I have flowmaster 40s which i think sounds better but it might just be because its dual.

well i really think magnaflow since i know his sounds good...any type of muffler is gonna give u that whine at top but u will only hear it if ur racing.

Heres 2 clips but remember this is the new 4.0 mustangs so it will be alittle different. But u can tell magnaflow is deeper but i think you were right, onemanzu, flowmaster sounds better to me.
