The only way you can get that will be to get a V8. V6s tend to sound kinda ricey at WOT no matter what you have on them. There are a bucnh of after market kits out there it is just a matter of what you prefer. I do however suggest an H-pipe instead of an X-pipe if you get duals put on.

welcome to moddedmustangs! be sure to join our member's map! yeh your not gonna get that v8 sound because the v6 is an even fire engine unlike a v8. some of the best sounding v6's in my opinon are running long tube headers, off road h or x pipe, a nice cam, and muffler's or choice.

here are the differance's in your exhaust versus a GT's exhaust

here is a good howto article written by another board member on installing long tube headers on a 99 v6

Long tubes, aggressive cam and flowmaster 40 series would sound sick- but still not a v8

so your saying go with long tube headers and a nice muffler now as for the h pipe x pipe deal can you explain which is better and why not just go with strait duels to the back then add mufflers. and also how much is a nice cam and how hard is it to install

What if you run custom fabricated pipes that go straight back and out over the axle, with no cats, and no mufflers will that sound decent ( just a rumble you know ) ? Now that I got a v6 I'd like it to sound not so ricey.

H pipe, X pipe, and true duals make the same power on our cars because of the even firing order. H pipes give a lower tone, which makes our cars sound not as ricey. X pipes give the V6 a raspy, high pitch sound, and true duals don't do much differently than H pipe.

No mufflers on any car is just loud. It would not only be illegal, but it would sound like shit for the V6. However, With an aggressive cam, running headers to collector pipe and nothing else won't sound too bad (not for street though).

You can get a cam custom ground or buy aftermarket models from several places for about $500 for our cars. Install is a bitch, and you will be lucky if you can get your cam out and the new one in without removing the radiator. The cam should be the last mod you do, because it makes all of your other mods work together in a sense. You will need a good tune after several mods or any big mod.

ATTENTION ALL V6 OWNERS! This is the 8764527453768465th million thread we have had on exhaust. There is a button on the toolbar up top called S-E-A-R-C-H. It will reveal all to you who seek exhaust tips and info for the V6. It seems every day someone is asking about a V6 Exhaust system. OK I am done now you can continue on with your lives...

As the site grows, V6 exhaust will be the number one topic for all threads IMO. Every car is different, and yes I have written 2 articles on the topic, one of which is on the main page, but welcome all Qs with thoughtful answers if at all possible.

I understand your thinking AB but aren't you getting tired of typing the SAME thing in every thread? I mean isn't that the purpose of writing the articles? So, people can read them and have all their ??? answered without having to ask? I mean don't get me wrong I don't mind it at all but there is so much knowledge to be learned in those articles that it is a real shame that more people don't read them...

I don't mind. Yeah, I feel like saying, "READ THIS!" sometimes, but I like to get personal with every Q and kind of let people know that I won't just answer it once, but if the topic is important to the member, I will guide them through the best of my abilities... I try to be the man like that

We don't want to clutter the forums with stickies. Here is the link
