top speed

02 3.8L
my top speed has decreased i think ha
the day i bought it
i had it at steady 115 (it already had mac cai and mac dual cat back)
now its hard to get it up to 100
(not hard just takes a few)
any ideas on whats going on ?
maybe i just need a lil more power ?
any help plzz

unless you're rocking a nice suspension and REALLY NICE TIRES...don't even think about taking your car up that high, you'll kill yourself and probably someone else. I wouldn't keep it up at those speeds too long, you're bound to break something.

i do have good tires (18/9 front - 18/10 front)
and dont worry about my driving
i wont kill anybody

What are your tires rated at?

And what suspension mods?

Taking our cars over 100 (unless your turbo/super) is pointless.

but believe it or not
i rarely get the car up to 90
i dont really drive the highway that much
street races usually only go up to about 60 or 70 where i live
its in the city mostly ya no
so theres nothing i can do to prevent any more of this

I also have a top speed problem on my 94, when it was stock ive had it up to 105 but now that i have my dual exhaust and 3.73 gears & posi it will only go up to 85 according to the speedometer but im actually only going 80. anyone know why this is and how to fix it? thanks

There is a simple and elementary explanation my friend. When you change out the stock 3.27 gears in the rear end which your top speed w/ govonor is 120mph to the 3.73 gears your acceleration increases. The acceleration has top draw off of something...namely your top speed...

but like either which way he will be able to reach his top speed... he might be able to top out 4.56's and 4.10s with some time... but he doesn't have enough efficiency to top out 3.73's or 3.27's either way
