yes definitly!!! i was just stating that you should really watch what you get form ebay. especially when it comes to performance parts.. i have seen to many people get ripped from buying performance parts on there... i was just trying to give you a heads up... in refrence to your question though, the whistle is normal and is sometimes louder with different intakes. mine doesn't make that loud of a whistle, but you can hear it when you are on the throtle... kinda sounds bad ass... not trying to sell you on anything, but you should try out the JLT cold air intake... http://www.jlttruecoldair.com/ just throwing out some ideas for ya....

and like i said, i wasn't trying to be an ass before.....

Are you absolutely sure its a whistle and not a squeak or vibration du to it rubbing somewhere? The way you describe it being worse in drive than in park makes me think its a vibration.

Maybe if you guys insulated that section of pipe with a eat resistant wrap, it would stop the transfer of the vibrations. I know it sounds like a rigged situation, but the only other options at this point is to buy a whole new set up or live with the noise.

The bonking noise could be his CAI pipe bouncing off the strut twr. Happened to me and drove me nuts until I figured it out and put a little padded tape under it. as for the whistle there is nothing you can do to silence it. That sound is caused not by more airflow( contrary to popular belief) but the way the air travels through the pipes and hitting something in the path into your upper intake. (maybe even your throttle body). For instance take a bendy straw and blow directly into it bending the tip around at the end. No whistle. Now turn it sideways and blow across the top of it at an angle. It will whistle very loudly. I hope that this helps you.

Have you pulled the pipe off and inspected for damage/evidence of rubbing?

sry i havent been able to post i just havent gotten on in a while cause we had to go back to dial up and it sucks! But anyway it wasnt bumping the strut tower and i know for a fact that it wasnt hitting the A/C cause it would make the same loud whistle sound when i would put it in reverse and i got my dad to back it up kinda fast as i looked at it and it wasnt hitting and it had prob about a inch of clearence. Even if i tugged on the pipe it wouldnt reach the ac line cause the air filter hit the heat sheild before it could get to the line. I think the problem was like slo2go was sayin. The getto fabed rubber bend allowed the air to hit it at a bad angle and then into the t/b so i think that was the source of the problem. But im ordering a new cai for my car today from mustang tuning.

I have heard from J Tucker (owner of JLT) That he is planning on make a densecharger for the V6 family of mustangs. I am patiently awaiting that to come out it should be the top dog on the market once it becomes available.

It is a CAI that utilizes PVC technology too dissipate heat from the intake air charge therefore supplying cooler air thus giving the motor more power. Check the website I listed above. It will tell you ALL about it. Everyone I know swears by this product and being the guy is local everyone who can has one!

densecharger is also know as tunable induction, and like slo2go stated, they dont use metal intake pipes, they use plastic/pvc so pipe wont heat up, and they also make a 3-piece ("tunable") kit, it has a pipe from TB to MAF, then MAF to fenderwell, and finally, a bend and a pipe from fenderwell to lower by bumper. if they didnt cost 130 bucks or so, i would have one now.

IDK but im just gonna go with it but it dose feel good to have the power gain back.I guess its just how its suppose to sound but im gonna leave it on there i might try changing to a new k&n filter though! I wish someone on the site had a cai on a v6 on the 96-98 and could tell me if theres dose the same thing!
