Car max is high on there prices and then they don't back up what they say. I would never buy a car from carmax. This is just how my dad was treated. I also got a price for a car to be traded in on carmax's web site. It took me to Kelly Blue book. That all soumds good. Got the price and then went to kelly blue book through autotrader and got a much higher price. You got to watch them, they are out to make money. No thanks, I will never goto them.

First post here, but check it out. I used to sell cars for a living and if you try to trade that car, they will give you nothing for it. It's too old and too high miles to be worth anything wholesale. It's worth a dollar to them no kidding. No dealer who is serious about selling you a car is going to give you a quote on your trade before they get you on paper for a new vehicle anyhow. Don't waste your time shopping it. You may find a couple dealers who will show you like 1500-3000 on your trade, but that is all garbage. Nobody is giving away money in the business. That all get's rolled up in the vehicle and worse, it gets financed too. So of course they are goinng to offer you that junk. This is why I got out of the business. I was tired of screwing people outta their dough because they didn't know any better. Just find some highschool kid and sell your car to them. It's a great car for a kid to drive around. That's about it man. And don't put crap down on a car. If you can, buy your new car with cash. Cash is King. If you have SEVERAL and I stress the several, like 7-8k, put it down to cut into the principal and lower the payments, but remember, on a 5 year loan, you are looking at only 20 bucks a month less for every 1000 you put down, so be careful with your savings. A good rule of thumb is this. If you can't afford the payments on the loan at a term of 36 months or less, you can't afford the car. If a dealer says you need to show the bank you are serious, by putting up a down payment, LEAVE. If they have a good relationship with the banks, you can get financing no matter what. I personally got a woman into a car, who had 2 declared bankruptcy not once but twice, and put not a dime down on her NEW CAR. Sorry to be so long with this post. Just figured I'd help where I had the knowledge to do so.

Dont do it...your young the interest rates will still eat you alive. put only what they want down, then use the rest of the savings to make a payment on your principal balance
