advise

I want to upgrade from my 99 it is very clean no major defectes it has 163000 all highway miles. Should I trade it in or could I sell it and get more out of it. KBB says its worth about $3,000.

damn 163...i would recommend just selling it...for something with lower miles...cheapest and probably a better desicion...dont want a modded car that doesnt work due to problems with other parts....just my opinion..unless u plan on re building the motor

you'll probably get more money if you sell it.

dealer isn't going to give you anything for it... your best bet is to sell it your self ... that way you can get more then 3k for it ... but like i tend to say you must shop for the best deal ... ask some dealers what they will give you for it ... then try to sell it for more or something

what is the rule on putting money down on a new car. When I put $2,200 when I bought it almost new it seem like they just took my money. I still paid high payments.

$2,200 is not alot of money to put down on a car that cost $12,000 or whatever you payed for your car. If you want lower payments put more down or buy a cheaper car.

Car dealerships own you doing that -

They make it seem like your getting a good deal on a "trade in" and then you still some how end up with high payments and buy the time you figure in interest on your high payments. You basically gave them your car and are paying 1-3k more than your car's value.

Yes I've worked at a dealership

sell it ur self...my KBB value was like 5200....i said F that and tried selling my current car myself for 7,000 and got a offer cash 7,000.....i turned it down because i had the car up for sale about 1 month then towards the end i bought a SC and started a project and couldnt let the car go....i should have got the Ws6 i wanted tho instead....just take nice pics...with a nice clean...which u can do ur self and not have to pay a dealer to detail it or someone...and ask 500 over what your looking for

thats because u didnt have a SC with a Car that has 70,000 miles as opposed to a older car with a LS1 that was probably driven hard with its 120,000 + miles....and if they say it was just highway driving thats even worse....thats a lot of wide open throttle and races it was in lol...and LS1s arent cheap to fix

Some advice on buying a new car:

-If taking a loan, FIRST go to a few banks or financial institutions to see what your interest rate will be. Majority of the time they will be better then the dealership

-When negotiating price, find what the dealer pays for it and talk up from that. Never talk down from MSRP.

-Shop around, see where the deals at! When you walk into a dealership, say "this is what (blank) is doing, what are you giong to do for me?" Mention the APR your getting from whomever and see if they can beat it. If they can't...walk out. Simple as that.

- If you're thinking about going with a used car and are contemplating getting a different new car for the same price, get the new car! Your interest will most likely be lower!

-Some dealerships are offering LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTIES. I'd buy from a place that has this...no brainer!

-Buy gap insurance. You may not wreck your car...but you can't trust anyone else! My girlfriends parents are paying on a kia that they don't even have because the insurance company screwed them!!!

-You can shop around for GAP insurance. Once again....a place like a credit union may have better rates for this.

Hope this helps.....

LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTIES are a rip off. They never live up to doing anything about it. The anly good warranties are from ford.
