Hit And Run

so yeah, today was not fun for me at all. I was parked at KFC after church. As i walked in, i commented on how good my car looked. When i walked out, i commented on how discusting it looked. Someone backed into my front bumper and drove off.

It was most definately a trailer hitch, so it was a truck. Its a big hole in my front bumper directly where my front license palte was which by the way is most liekly now wrapped around some guys trailers hitch. you better belive anytime i see a truck i look for a bent up license plate on the back of it. (I had it put on with velco so i diddnt aave to put holes in my precious front bumper. there goes that careful thinking)

Anyways enough of the sob story, I need help deciding what to do. My deductible on my insurance is 1000, high i know but i'm a teenager and insurance costs are ridiculous. If i'm not mistaken a new bumper(parts and labor) is basically that, 1000. So basically i'm left with either paying for it out of pocket or perhaps buying a license plate bracker to just cover up the hole.

Anyone know where i could get a good, BIG license plate bracket for the front of an 04 mustang? thanks

i would get a new bumper of a wrecked mustang in your area... see if you can find a wreck yard and see if you can get one from them... have it painted to match at macco and install it your self... not hard at all...

i installed a bumper on my moms car took two hours... but its new and a chrystler...

why would you take that risk just get a 00-04 bumper man or for you it should be a good time to invest in a body kit

You must have one heck of a paint color to match or a crazy expensive bumper - $1000? I'm having a bumper and hood shipped in my color (used but in great condition) for $250. Browse forums, find used deals, hope you get someone local so you don't have to pay rediculous amounts for shipping, and just get some temporary fix for now, whatever you have to do. Good luck!

And if you really need to, check eBay for Bumper.com bumpers, they usually go painted for about $400, but if you are considering an upgrade... take this as the opportunity to upgrade and put this money towards a better bumper!

can you really have a new bumper shipped already painted the right color? If so that would be so much easier. Most I've seen are just primed. And i'm not exactly mustang knowlagable, I've only had it about 4 months so installing a new bumper myself sounds like a project.

also, would i need to buy a new foam backing for behind the bumper or can i reuse my old one? My old one has just a small dent in it. Would that be like dangerous?

Why don't you just get a front bumper from your car. Test fit it, and have it fit. Do your temp fix. When you have the money get the front bumper prepped, primed, and painted. Then install it. Take it little by little.

Go into KFC and ask them if they can show you the security video so you can see what kind of car it was?
