various problems with 02 V6

hi everybody.

New to the forum, new to the country, Have a beautiful baby thats acting up. Kinda like ladies always do. But I was hoping someone could help me get her into shape.

No action in the odometer, just stopped counting my miles, speedometer is out, light in the dash is out.
Don't know about this one, but the el windows isn't automatic, have to hold the button down to get window up and down.

Constantly stalls when I drive arround and push the clutch to down shift or stop.

And the "service engine soon" light just came on.

For the odometer and speedometer I get these:

D123 SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Odometer
D041 SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Vehicle Speed

anybody got any clues?

thanx

you tripped or blew the fuse for the gauges ... or it might be a relay ... im not sure but its a problem with the electrical system ... well depending on the year ...

if its 99-04 then you broke a relay or something
if its 94-98 then its a broken odometer wire which runs from the tranny to the gauge cluster ... hopefully someone else knows what exactly im talking about and can help you

welcome to MM and welcome to America ...

this is quite possible a VSS sensor issue. (vehicle speed sensor) both the codes he is throwing are thrown because of missing vss data which both of those parts of the cluster depend on.

PS nice way to put it

so it would seem yes...
too bad for me that the car looks so damn fine!

expensive to fix?

I can live with the electrical problems, as long as I get the
stalling problem out of the way...

but thats probably just sensors right?

happened the last time I bought a car too.
Drove it for a couple of weeks and it began to stall on me.
Got it fixed on dealers warranty though. Wich was a good thing,
garages in norway charge easily 170 USD an hour.
583 USD was the total... 2 O2 sensors pluss work.

as long as its cheaper than that I'm happy...

the vss is cheap and i suggest you get it fixed as soon as possible because legally if you have a failure that effects the legitimate tracking of the millage you cannot legally sell the car in the future.

it's a cheap fix if it's the vss.
