midpipe ftw...or ftl

is there advantages/disadvantages to not having a midpipe? i want two flo 40's, but i dont know whether or not i should get a midpipe. it seems like the sixers sound a little more rumbly running straight pipes to the back. i live in California and need cats, but do i need a midpipe to pass smog? if i do need one, an H will give me a little bit more rumble over an X right? im more concerned about tone over hp cuz ill get it back from other mods.

if you dont have any kind of crossover pipes aka straight pipes, itll sound like shit. i have mac longtubes, mac o/r h-pipe and mac catback and ive gotten comments about the nice sound.

but like any other exhaust on a v6, in the higher rpms, it sounds like shit lol

EDIT: didnt notice you were from cali at first. get shortie headers, catted h-pipe, and than a good catback with flows on it

I got to compare it to a vortech v6 yesterday with high flow cats / xpipe / magnaflow's and it sounds better ever rpm & louder

mid pipes come usually on cars that dont have 2.3s or 4cyl at that...not like urs at least...because u have a turbo in it rite ? or its motor...idk much about the SVlOws stock of course

mid section being a H, D, or X style...but u can also run straight pipes out back as ur mid pipe connecting the catback and manifolds

no matter what, exhaust is pure opinion, i mean some people like the sound of the ricer mobiles man, so there is no "truth" man

u mean best u heard without a cam and or stroker

ive heard plenty of V6s that sound better then straight pipes...even without a Cam or stroker....they sound the best overall tho...but a Hpipe LT with Macs V6 sounds real good...

well the one dis advantage to not having a mid pipe is that the exhaust just kinda ... dumps out after the headers and doesn't reach the mufflers ...
