4.0L nitrous

I have a 2006 mustang with a 4.0L V6. Pretty much stock. I can not really afford the $4000.00-6,000.00 turbos/supercharger. I am looking into getthing NOS system, however I am just wondering if these kits are anything good, or if there is a better place to spend the 500.00. I see a kit that has a 25-100 HP boost. could this blow a stock engine, if you are only running a 50HP boost? what are the pro's and cons of a NOS kit. ALSO, is a dry or wet kit better?

Don't limit yourself to just NOS products. Look at NX, Zex, Venom, etc. They all make good products. Now it doesn't exactly go by this will give you 50hp or so. What regulates how much nitrous is used is a jet. To start off with a stock engine I would play it safe, and use a 75 shot, and get it tuned. I myself am not a nitrous guru unlike some of the people on this site. They can explain all this a lot better than I can.

So I'm told a wet kit is better for your engine.

Yeah, I am not sure what HP is good for a stock engine. I am just looking for something to give me a good HP boost. I see some people talking about a system and having it be able to "Purge", does this feature come with all kits, or just some?

a purge valve allows you to clear your nitrous lines of any air so you get a pure shot of nitrous when you hit it.

not all kits come with it.
I would invest in it though honestly.

Stick 100 shot on her and get a tune and you will be fine.

Now when you say a tune, what do you mean? do you mean buy a tuner, or is there a different kind of shop tune that I need?

buy a tuner.

make sure to buy the tuner that your local dyno shop has the software for.

OK, now I understand NOS, however I am not sure, do you only use it at high speed with a switch, or does it hook up to the gas and the RPM for automatic injection.?

As far as a tuner goes, are there any suggestions as to which one? I see SCT, but I see the Diablo is cheaper!

the kits normally have an arming switch and should only be used at wide open throttle.

either tuner is good.

it's not the device that is better... it's the person tunning your car with it that makes the better tune.

I would use what your local dyno shop uses

.

However, don't start off with a 100shot. Start with the 50 or 75 jets then work your way up to the 100 after your comfortable with it.

Wet shot is generally better because it combines the fuel with the nitrous so your computer doesn't have to worry about compensating. Their are also guys who have been running one of Justin's Mail Order Tunes on nitrous 6's for a year +

What is a mail order tune.. I also and not sure if we have a local dyno here in Utah either. Why would I start at 50 HP, just to learn how to handle the power or to break the engine in?

Also, if I use a 75 shot, will it ruin my engine faster. it is 06, so, I do not want to ruin anything.

okay funny story i would like to share... i watched a video on streetfire that had a v6 rental mustang that they put a 125 shoot on... of course it was a rental but it managed to keep up with a new edge GT...

what i guess im getting at is you can do a 75 -100 shoot safe no problems...

make sure you tune it and to get a lil boost in numbers on top of that do some other supporting mods

the reason they say start low and work your way up is that you don't do something stupid like push your cars limits and blow it up in one run... though your car is pretty stout... some have run 15+ psi on it stock... so it can hold

make sure that you get all the other things they have mentioned and don't push the button to much

So I need to get a NOS system, and use a 75 shot. buy a tuner and tune it for NOS. Now when you say 15+ PSI, are you talking NOS or turbo?

shot for nitrous
psi for force induction (turbo/super)

i think u will be better with an SCT.. get the tunes by mail and u will be ok..

in americanmuscle.com theres a nice zex kit for startes i think it comes with almost all the parts needed and its wet shot..

if you look at some of the descriptinos of the NOZ it says to not use an aftermarket advance timing, as it might cause detination with the NOS? any truth here?

but when you tune it for power, and 91 octane, does that not advance the timing?

I thought that is how a tuner worked, is that it advances the timing. If you do not advance the timing, how does a tuner give you power?
