Why does my car keep accelerating?

Ok..probably a stupid question for those of you who know what you're doing, but I have a 2001 Mustang V6. It keeps accelerating on it's own. Even if I'm braking, it tries to go and I have to floor the brake or put it in neutral.

Help a girl out?
