Water Pump

I have a 2003 V6 and it is making a screeching noise. I had a guy tell me it is the part between the pully and the water pump. Do you know what this part is? Can it be bought separate?

also, How do you replace the water pump? I do not beleive that is the problem though because it is not leaking out the weep hole.

Thanks

it's more than likely the cam position syncronizer behind it. located in the hole where the distibutor was on the old 3.8's. They are bad about seizing up from lack of lube. If you carefully markthe old one upon removal, you can install the new one in the same position and be good to go.
