Hard to put into Reverse on New 07 Manuel 5 speed V6

I just got the car this week. 195 miles on it at the time I test drove it. 1/2 the time it will not go straight into reverse. So I did the old trick, put it in 1st and move the car and inch. Sometimes this works. I went back and the Dealer, he said "apply a small amount of pressure on reverse and let out the clutch a little and it should slip in". He said this is the way it is sense 2001. Safe and works on level ground. I found on unlevel ground let it roll while keeping a little pressure on the stick it slips in.

So is he BS me? Think my tranny has a problem?

What do you people think?

Thanks!

my sunfire does this and the tranny syncro is fucked... i cant see you having to double clutch or fiddle with a new car to get it into revers. test drive another one and see what happens. like i said i have to double clutch my sunfire for reverse or it grinds or wont go in and i know it has an issue. never used to do it.

thats odd usually most manual tranny's have a 5-R safety latch that will stop you from hittin reverse if your shifter is in the 5th position. for example my sunfire has this if im in 5th i cant go to reverse i have to move it back to first then it will allow me to move the shifter to reverse.

I had a car with that problem and it ended up being something called the "linkage". Anyway, they adjusted it for free and sent me on my way.

It's a common problem...nothing to worry about ....once you get used to it it'll go into reverse much easier ....I sometimes have to put it into first and then reverse....and have been experiencing this from the first day I bought it .....same thing with my Bro-in-law ..he's does the same thing...
I'd say 75% it'll go in no problem and the rest...you have to ease up on the clutch while doing it or putting it into first and then reverse...

sometimes i have to rock it a little bit forward to then get it into reverse. sometimes the gears just dont match up perfect the way its sitting, no big deal you will get used to doing that

u cant go from 5th to reverse on your T5...you must move it to the left slightly when taken out of 5th then you can bring it to reverse...you cant just shift down to it...its not a 6 speed
