Rear End Size

I recently bought a 97 V-6 that had a 302 put in. Are the rear ends the same size for the V-6? if not, how do I tell? It measures about 9" around and has 10 bolts on the gear cover, I don't know if that helps. Also the drive shaft, were they the same for V-6 vs. V-8? Thanks in advance.

the only thing different would be ring/pinion ratio. rear was set up for 6 not 8. its a 8.8 rear 28 spline axles

If it is a 7.5" rear, it will have rounded sides

If it is an 8.8" rear it will have squared sides

All 7.5s have the same ratio, but fox, sn94, new edge, and s197s have different axle lengths.

Hey do you guys know where I could find an 8.8 rearend for a 99 v6. Or do you know of anyone who makes them with your desired gear ratios already installed into them.

junkyard for a wrecked gt of same year gets you a rear, and then buy gears for the 8.8 you get. it bolts right up
