Wire Harness

I got a quick question. Im planning on doing an engine swap on my 3.8L. I need to know if the engine computer actually controls stuff on the inside of the car. Im doing a whole new harness. I guess my actual question is this. Is it possible to remove only the wiring that is directly related to the engine and still have everything else work...e/i lights, power windows...anything not directly related with the engine. Ive got the new engine and its own engine wiring harness and computer. Searchs dont bring up anything.

Thanks

You just use your wiring harness and computer. Save yourself the headaches with the swap, yours will run just fine.

Theres not an option here. Im doing a custom car. Im taking the 3.8l and auto tranny out and putting in a 5.7l v8 with a 6 speed. Its not a ford engine going in. Im building it and almost have it finished. I just need to know if the harness from the 3.8l can be seperated while keeping everything from the chasis intact.

Im going to cut it out then ground anything on the chasis that shared a ground with the engine. Then ill run current through the rest of the harness to see if everything else works alright. Does that sound like it would work?
