Flowmaster Original Series Mufflers

I just had a question about ordering some flowmaster mufflers, Original 40 Series, which seem to be a preference for everybody.

I just had my exhaust done on Sep. 15th and I got and x-pipe, with magnalfow mufflers with 3" Silverline tips.

I thought this is what I wanted and I honestly have to say that I did like it at first, but now its kind of not growing on me, I personally think that it doesnt have that growl that I wanted. I honestly think that I should of gone with the flowmasters in the first place, but I guess its trial and error.

So I was thinking about buying some flowmaster mufflers online and then just take them and get them in place of my magnaflows.

Anybody know of anygood sites or have any links with the exact mufflers that would fit so I can pick some up.

Thanks

Yeah, I know that I wont have much of a growl, but I dont know, I personally just dont like the sound. I know that several people do have magnaflow and like them. Like I said, I did at first, but now, I am not to sure, I think I would should have gone with flowmasters.

When I went to get the exhaust done, they let me hear 3 types of mufflers.

First was Flowmasters, then magnaflows, then cherry bombs.

I went with the maganflows, but in the back of mind now I wish I went with the flowmasters.

But who knows, I will keep them on just a bit longer and then maybe change.

But I really just wanted to get some ideas though.

do you still have catalytic converters? you can ditch them and magnafows get a totally different sound. or ditch the cats and get flowmasters

When I found an exhaust shop that was a decent price, I asked them about going catless, and they said they would not do it, so I kind just said forget about.

If I kept the magnaflow's and went catless, what do you think the sound would be like?

I will let you know when I decide what to do.

I just went and picked up my car from ford, becaue I had a ticking noise coming from the engine and it turns out that my right header, which is with most mustangs, is leaking and my left is a little.

They freaking want to charge me about $900 to replace headers with stock.

So now I am looking into buying some headers and getting it fixed.

you could get manifold gaskets for 15 bucks and replace the worn header manifold gaskets to the block in an hour or so.

the reason manifolds on the right side always get fucked is cause of that damn water drainage... thats why mine is ... well cracked, and putting more so then ticking...

sounds like fun... replacing the header gasket... do they make the alloy ones for our cars? and are they as easy like ... loosen the header bolts slide to old out slide the new in tighten, done??

If you can get original 40s their still louder than the 44s on our cars....

Actually, the original 40s are louder on the GT's also, just a different sound.

I am going to hold off till this weekend, when I can get up under the car and see myself whats going on.

I just cant believe that ford would charge that much.

I printed out theses OEM headers from ebay when I went in, price was 144.99, and showed it to the guy. He said that ford charges $225 dollars a HEADER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Crap Man. I could get a new set and a bunch of strippers for that.

But he started telling me not to buy aftermarket headers because there not worth it and blah blah blah.

So, anyways, I will look at the gaskets, and stuff this weekend.

The other thing he told me, after, was just to replace the passenger side for now.
