Duel exhaust system

I have a 1996 stang 3.8. it has a singe exhaust system with what looks like two cats by the header. What I want to do is put duel exhaust on her with 40 series.
Can I do this on a V6 and get it to pass Maryland emissions. Some one told me that you can not change factory equipment in Maryland, I do not believe this.

Can someone please help me.

well im pretty sure in CA you can have whatever set up you want, as long as you leave the cats on there. CA is pretty strict, so you should be fine in MD as long as you leave the cats on. check with a local shop, they should know whats legal

you should be okay. usually the emissions people will give you shit because you modified your car.

+1 for keeping the cats.

pretty much, its just for sound, as far as HP you will only get like 5-7HP on our cars your getting exhaust for sound not performance, i suggest flowmaster original 40s/mac
