from what i hear ebay ones are fine. i bought mine before i became a member of MM and i paid about $200 for mine. but from what everyone says, ebays one work just fine. just go and buy a K&N filter from your local auto store and throw that on there.

correct guys?

the metal ones do heat up faster but they also dissipate heat faster as well.

the same goes for the plastic ones.. takes them longer to heat up but also takes them longer to cool down.

you are not going to see a big gain from any CAI.

welcome to the forums btw.

the v6 is a Great car man.
I started out with one.

and for some reason decided to get another

anyways ... they are all metal tubes... to get a composite one it will cost you upwards of $300 for shitty gains... not worth it unless you are looking to do a 600 horse power naturally aspirated nitrous injected beast

why do you think you shouldn't put too much money into a v6? alot of people are putting turbochargers on them and leaving GT's in the dust.. they aren't bad cars man..

exactly the stickers are where the HP's at .. not the actual intake.. jk

but seriously id buy the K&N just cause it has like a lifetime warranty anyways .. hence comes the " you get what you pay for "

The v6 has a lot more potential than you are giving credit for. There are plenty of v6's that can spank my GT easily. Even if I am pretty stock. It doesn't matter. Plenty of v6's make plenty of power. Don't act like it's so slow you could be MSO with a 2.3.

Yea, just get an ebay cai. The gains you really notice are the ones in your head. The gains are there, but not really enough to make a large impact.

Hey man. First let me say welcome to MM. Next I really need to echo what these guys said. The 3.8L is a good car. I know that you may have heard people dump on them before, but they surprise alot of people. I have already put thousands into my car and I plan to put thousands more. When I'm done, my car will look badass, and be able to beat most of the GT's that happen to come along. The CAI is a relativley cheap mod that will give you a bit of power(but not much). I think that it does make a good early mod, just don't expect to be taking anything noticable off you 0-60. BTW...I agree that if you do get one, go with the K&N. Also, please update your sig so that we know exaclty what kind of car you have. One last thing, if you are looking for something that will add some quick zip, new gears and a tuner will do nicely. But that will cost you.

what do you think the intake manifolds are made of?

just get one off ebay for 40-50 bucks shipped, throw on a k&n filter and call it a day. you pay for brand names and their advertisements a lot of times. it is fairly safe to say, however, that you get what you pay for in the automotive industry. but on a mod such as a cai that adds no-to-little noticeable gains, just go cheap.

p.s., i run with 99-04 gt mustangs, and anyone could buy my car right now for 7k cash easy.

Its ok I hate on the V6 all the time too lol...and yes the throttle response will be better, and you may hear a cool whooshing sound if your exhaust isnt loud, and no not worth too much power
