tranny fluid and oil change

I got a good deal at $140 for a transmission flush and fill and a synthetic Pennzoil oil change. I hope Pennzoil is good because I dont know much about this new sythetic they have.

Anyway, something strange happened. At 60 mph, my car has always revved at about 1,900 rpms. After they did this service today, I'm just a bit over 1,800 rpms.

Does anyone know why this might be????

Yes, down. Like 80 to 100 rpms.

I don't know why its doing it or if it's normal, but it seem like a good thing. you're going faster at a lower RPM that means that your engine is being more effecient. I could be wrong though.

Yes. Seems like that's good. It implies the torque convertor is working more efficiently.

Jug- you remembered my green tranny fluid didnt you!

They took it out and put in the red. That could explain it. The green is thicker or something because its designed to tolerate much higher temps.
So maybe the red is thinner? IDK. I agree with MWW that its better to be slower in rpm at the same speed.

I seen the fluid they took out. It was pretty cool. It was a healthy green color and smelled like crayons. It wasnt burnt at all but it did have some crap in it. There was also a "plug" in the pan they said was normal. Something about keeping the pan "clean" during manufacturing?

Anyway, 55,000 miles and the fluid wasnt too bad. Maybe next time Ill go bac to the green martian shit
